It's been awhile since I've worked outside the Apple ecosystem, but when I first started with Mac programming I thought their documentation was absolutely amazing.
I wasn't combing through the bottoms of experts-exchange posts to find obscure references to long forgotten Microsoft C++ APIs, I could just read the docs for the class and do what I wanted.
In the decade or so I've been writing mostly Mac/iOS software, this experience is largely unchanged and still better than other platforms I've tried to write for.
I think everyone looks at their own favorite platform through rose colored glasses and it's pretty easy to dismiss the warts when you've dealt with them for so long.
