Every time i hear "the market" speak is to complain about Electron's resource use. Most of the time though "the market" has no idea why their computers become slow and they blame the computer itself.
The choice for Electron isn't done by "the market", it is done by the developers.

- Klonoar 7y agoDevelopers are the market in that talking point, not the end users. If you have a choice between your standard desktop GUI toolkits (AppKit, WPF, Qt, etc) and the web toolkit, your prospective user market _of these toolkits_ are developers. Developers overwhelmingly choose the latter. Thus, the market has spoken on the matter. If you (or anyone) want it to be reversed, then you need to complain at the desktop GUI toolkit makers enough that they invest time, resources, and so on to make them as approachable and "just works" to compete with the web. The web platform won, insofar as desired common rendering APIs go, and that's the game now. That we're even still debating this in 2019 is ridiculous.
