One of the main problems with This Old House, the cost of the homes and projects are for the top 10% of income earners, so generally, they're not examples of rebuilds that can be had by the majority of home owners. I get that real copper gutters are cool and will last two lifetimes, but how many people can afford that? I could think of about a dozen examples like this that regular folk can not afford, slate roofs, stone fireplaces, old growth flooring etc.

- technofiend 7y agoHoo boy, you aren't kidding. I have an older home and my wife reached out to this old house about getting some work done. I have a slate roof, real plaster walls, needed some wood working done like a new french door crafted, etc, etc. I don't remember the exact number any more but I think they weren't interested if my budget was less than $650k. I didn't pay that for my house!
