WSL!
WSL somewhat annoyingly has a custom/proprietary init system. Partially due to it's "interesting" integration with windows, and partially because it's not even really a full linux system yet.
I'm curious if with the switch to WSL2 where they will begin shipping a full linux kernel if systemd will be included or will they stick with their current custom solution?
- darkpuma 7y ago> WSL I think you mean GNU/Windows, or as I've taken to calling it, GNU Plus Windows. (Seriously though, the WSL name is deceptive because it doesn't actually contain any Linux code. There is no Linux in "Windows Subsystem for Linux")
- syntheticcdo 7y agoWell not today, but soon it will be GNU/Windows+Linux -- https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/6/18534687/microsoft-windows-10-linux-kernel-feature https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/6/18534687/microsoft-windows...
- alanfranz 7y agoWSL 2.0 contains a full Linux kernel.
- darkpuma 7y agoYeah but as far as I can tell that doesn't actually exist yet, and isn't scheduled to be available until the end of next month. (Existing inside Microsoft but not publicly is "does not exist" as far as I'm concerned, because I remember all kinds of legendary stuff Microsoft has apparently made but never released.)

- JohnFen 7y agoI don't think WSL counts at all.
