Also did something similar two weeks ago.[1] It's a big work in progress! I'm using Rstudio's Distill framework[2], writing RMarkdown, hosting on Gitlab and publishing on Netlify. Netlify is dead simple to setup, even the domain name and DNS re-direction. I'm also using one of their contact forms.
