- rankingSpanking 7y agoI have yet to meet a single person who has willingly clicked on an ad, only to be converted into a real purchase. I have yet to meet a person who actually pointed an ad out to me as a positive element in a page. I have yet to meet a person who has had their opinion swayed by persuasive media campaigns. I have yet to meet a person who consumed fake news or thought at least one fake news article was anything more convincing than a weird, quirky tabloid Weekly World News Bat Boy type story. As far as I can tell, no one is that stupid.

- Bluestrike2 7y agoIt's a tough effect to analyze effectively, given how indirect and disconnected the effect they're aiming for is from their ops. But the thing is, they're really, really cheap in relative terms. With the ones run by nation states, even a minor return is going to be an infinitesimal part of their budget with very little risk to them. Even minor successes would be more than sufficient. I mean, the Army funded the Stargate Project[0] for nearly two decades. Social media ops have at least an advantage or two over staring at goats. 0. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_Project https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_Project
