Ask HN: How do you manage references to project resources?

You may have docs hosted on Google Docs or Dropbox Paper. Multiple repositories on GitHub/BitBucket/GitLab. If you are a web developer, you must be referring to Invision/Zeplin/Figma often. Obviously, a single project can have tons of related resources — docs/code/design mockups/media assets/others. How do you track such references? How do you keep your teammates informed on where to get the necessary piece of information, required for a project? Do you keep these references in a single place, e.g., some page/section of your project management software, or maybe README.md file of a project code repository?
