Berlin is one of the best cities in the whole word. Very friendly and mostly free of neonazis.
There is a great place to dance ABBA songs called Matrix, just under the subway station near Friedrichshein
Is one of my top favourite places to dance in the world, together with the famous Propaganda, or PPG , like the young people call it, in wudaokou, near the forestry university
- aap_ 7y agoI have a feeling he's from Berlin and doesn't want more people coming here.
- iamsaitam 7y agoeither that or he's a german from some other place..
- ivan_gammel 7y agoIt is known that Germans have weird taste for life, preferring cash to digital payments and not really understanding what does “global city” mean (just kidding here). I’ve lived in several German cities and Berlin does not differ much from others, except that it’s much less boring and probably much more English-speaking. The railways are as irregular as in Hamburg or Cologne, the beer can be as good as in Munich and you can get in some places as good Maultaschen as in Stuttgart. Berlin airports are shitty, too much multi-kulti on Alexanderplatz for some people and no one says “Servus” or “Moin” - but that’s a feature, not a bug of this city.
- martin_a 7y agoSorry to disagree. Berlin is the shithole of Germany and everybody, except people from Berlin, agrees on this. This opinion is more uniting than the fall of the Berlin wall or anything else in this country. It's a town where nothing really works (airports, anyone?) but people from Berlin think that's the way it's supposed to be and that it's somehow "cool" to be this way. It isn't. Any other European capital is really nice or at least tries its best to be nice, Berlin is just "meh, don't care". Financial power is not concentrated there, nor is industrial power. Companies (and what you might call "startup") have some outposts in Berlin because it's chic to have something in Berlin. It sprays the scent of being wealthy (enough), while the real major cities are in the Ruhrgebiet, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart (in loose order) and those are the places big companies have their headquarters and never really thought about moving to Berlin. Tourists like Berlin because it's so shabby, but that's about everything that city got. It's some strange kind of fascination for disgust and decay that attracts the people. Germans don't like Berlin. It's hyped for nothing and you can find better jobs and better places to live all over the country. Right now I'm kind of living in the middle of nowhere in south-west Germany near the French border and I got 100 MBit/s internet connection, so not even that is better in Berlin.
- morsch 7y ago> Berlin is the shithole of Germany and everybody, except people from Berlin, agrees on this. Not sure what makes you qualified to make such sweeping assertions.
- siiiii 7y agoReplying to you from Berlin with 200 MBit/s, thank you very much. Moved here a few years ago and can't really imagine living anywhere else in Germany. Saw some similar weird hatred on Reddit recently. Not sure what happened to people in Berlin but just like any other big city there are lovely and shitty parts. You got to spend some time here to know which is which (obviously this may be different for all of us). Anyone is allowed to be whomever they want to be in Berlin - so there is a mix of things and people quite unparalleled.
- thiago_fm 7y agoYeah yeah. Berlin is my country. I love it. Cheers.
- codemusings 7y ago> Berlin is the shithole of Germany [...] I mean the good thing is that unpleasant people like you don't live anywhere near it which makes it awesome again!
- tomhoward 7y agoI only spent one night in Berlin (due to very limited time on that trip) and pretty much all of it was spent at Matrix. Kicked on dancing and drinking as long as I could, took a nap in the corner, then headed straight for the bus to Prague. Very fond memory. I'll visit properly one day.
