If you had a GO-based client, with smooth RAM usage, the level of adoption wouldn't significantly change. Sad but true.

- Insanity 7y agoThe app could be better on desktop though. Launching it takes ages (sync messages), and after that if I receive a message on my phone it does not always propagate to the app. Messages I send via desktop are also missing on the phone. But, I love the idea and signal is the only app I use for messaging, so obviously these things don't bother me that much :)
- majkinetor 7y agoOh, they bother everybody much, trust me. Daily, somebody whines about how bad Signal experience is. If I didn't trust their security measure the most, I wouldn't use it.
- metildaa 7y agoThere are two Python/Java based clients called pyre.chat and signal-weechat, ram use is much lower than Signal Desktop. Check out my other comment about it: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19894385 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19894385
