Since when is a 120 mW laser eye safe?
- rootw0rm 7y agoyah, that's a bit scary. 120mW infrared laser touted as eye safe...what could go wrong? I'm guessing it has to do with how the beam is focused though. theoretically I think it could be eye safe at close range.
- extrapickles 7y agoThe laser is pulsed at 100khz. A low duty cycle would make it more eye-safe, and increase the z resolution.
- inflatableDodo 7y agoFound this, which seems to go some way toward explaining it - http://www.fsona.com/product.php?sec=safety http://www.fsona.com/product.php?sec=safety Presumably when you get down to 1550 nm, the transmission of light through the lens is a lot lower.
- dllu 7y agoThe eye safety limit for 1550 nm is thousands of times higher than for visible light or near infrared. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:IEC60825_MPE_J_nm.png https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:IEC60825_MPE_J_nm.pn...
