I think people are refusing to use the word that perfectly describes the wast majority of modern "friends" - they are acquaintance - people with whom one is friendly but they aren't friends. Friends help you move.[0] --- [0] And of course there's "real friends help you move bodies" if we want to look at the hierarchy of "friendships"
