If school start times can change, so can work hours. If one has the flexibility, one can go into work early and leave early when it's still light outside. Employers should be encouraged to allow this.
- gpvos 7y agoThe entire reason why we have twice-yearly time changes is that it is apparently harder to change school and work times.
- burfog 7y agoFor that, we just need to coordinate things. This could be solved by a few designated rescheduling days. They can be the 2 times when we currently mess with clocks, or we could have 4 of them. On such days, all government functions (schools, government employment, etc.) switch to different times as desired. They can switch by more or less than an hour, as desired. Private business can follow along, or not. We'd encourage them to do so. Government contractors clearly would.
- RankingMember 7y agoI agree, but I think uniformly altering work hours would prove much more difficult than doing so for schools.
- magduf 7y agoExactly. Schools are usually government-run, so if the government wants to, they can change the school hours easily. Businesses aren't run by the government, so the government doesn't usually have any power over the businesses' operating hours.
- echelon 7y agoI don't have kids, but I want more daylight hours. Permanent summertime is fantastic from my perspective.
