Ask HN: Domain registrar with a good API?

I work for a company managing ~15,000 domain registrations. Our current registrar is dumping their old querystring-based API in favor of its XML equivalent. The transition has been anything but smooth. So tell me HN, are there any developer-oriented registrars out there? Something like BrainTree but for domains instead of credit cards?
