This is anecdotal but I can speak for the high net worth individuals I work with in NYC. Most of them will occasionally take the subway, depending on time of day and where they are traveling. However, all of them travel by car when more convenient (which is often). They also tend to schedule calls during private vehicle commutes (impossible on the subway) and they'll sometimes put up with longer travel times in order to do so.
