On Exadata architecture (and the recent versions of Oracle Database) the search is made by the hardware, not the software.
I'm not a fan of Oracle, but things like that are awesome.
- vetinari 7y agoReally? What I vaguely remember that the storage nodes were embedded linux boxes. Yes, they understood indices and would return only minimum needed, but it was still software.
