Why would Pluralsight, a training company, be interested in this. At $170 Million?
Not sure why they thought it was a purchase that helped them in their mission.
- jMyles 7y agoI thought sure this was a stock deal (ie, a handshake basically). I didn't realize Pluralsight had $170 million in cash on hand. I guess that's why they give out such high quality fidget spinners as swag at PyCon.
- austenallred 7y agoThey went public
- sundvor 7y agoThe subscription fees make sense now. It's not a cheap service.
- UweSchmidt 7y ago35$/month to live in selfstudy-paradise is not cheap?
- dewey 7y agoDepends where you are living and what's the average salary in your country I'd say?
- sundvor 7y agoYeah it's AUD 50 per month. Everything adds up. Especially if you've also got a family. I do miss it though, and am hoping to see another 50% off Black Friday special.
- chrshawkes 7y agoThere is a ton of filler content on Pluralsight. Half of all the courses are entirely setup, beginner level bullshit. Great content can be found there and everywhere. Poor content too.
- UweSchmidt 7y agoGetting started is important, I'll gladly follow along someone setting up the IDE and installing stuff as this will avoid countless problems. Where do you find the best content?
- chrshawkes 7y agoHonestly, I make my own content but some of the courses on Pluralsight are some of the best.
- mejakethomas 7y agoI'm at pycon right now, and this is hilarious.
- jMyles 7y agoAnd they don't even have fidget spinners this year! I was wrong! They changed to little flashlights. Probably because they spent all their money on GitPrime.
- lpolovets 7y agoI have no inside info, but my guess is that GitPrime's product could help Pluralsight quantify its ROI. E.g. "developers that complete these three courses write 17% more code and have 8% fewer bugs. Can you really afford not to buy Pluralsight licenses for all of your developers??"

- mcbits 7y agoFrom the PR it sounds like they plan to provide customers with a sort of feedback loop between productivity metrics and training programs.
- manigandham 7y agoPluralsight has been slowly getting into the analytics space to show management and companies that the training works and land bigger corporate deals. It started with custom courses, certifications, training journeys and completion scores and I believe the intention here is to tie that towards project velocity and code productivity.
