Chrome OS Means Never Having To Care About Your Processor's Instruction Set
- joeycfan 16y agoSee, this is the way of all things in geekdom. In the beginning we are limited by lack of tools but we are closer to the silicon and write fast, tight code. Then we start to move away and write slower bloat-ier code but Moore's Law bails us from the consequences of our actions. Now this. Every time we get a faster computer, we slather it with another layer of bullshit. There will come a cleansing. I don't think we'll go back to running a monitor (remember those?) but this path cannot stand. I think we'll just compromise and cut back on cruft until it's tolerable.
