"A donation does not purchase a place at Stanford, and we work very hard to ensure that prospective donors understand this. Stanford does not accept gifts if it knows a gift is being made with the intention of influencing the admission process."
- cycrutchfield 7y agoThat's a hilarious joke!
- twinkletwinkle_ 7y agoI would love to meet the author of that line. I have a bridge to donate to them!
- asdff 7y agoReading between the lines: donate the building while your kid is in diapers and get that dividend 18 years later.
- naveen99 7y agoBy definition a donation cannot come with strings attached. but it will influence their admissions process, because they don’t want to discourage future no strings attached donations...
- whyenot 7y agoLikely true, at least in a direct sense, but Stanford does give a nearly three-fold preference to legacy applicants. Alumni are more likely to donate to Stanford than non-alumni. https://stanfordmag.org/contents/what-it-takes https://stanfordmag.org/contents/what-it-takes

- acct1771 7y agoNone of them do....hahahaha
