At the very least the host should be chosen based on it's current ability to host the games, not rely on tens of billions of dollars worth of construction projects to get there. LA is probably one of the few places with most of the venues already in place. The other option would be to host different sports in different countries, so the burden get's spread out more. It's kind of ridiculous that countries have to build artificial rivers now and all kinds of ridiculous crap. Why not host the kayaking somewhere there is a natural river they can use.
