We'll know in the next 20 years or so. I think the underlying point the author is trying to make is that both compulsions stem from a negative psychological compulsion. Instead of the compulsion being driven by appearance and negative self-perception the compulsion is driven by the fear of mortality.
- gwern 7y agoAnorexia and bulimia - real eating disorders - don't take 20 years to kill. And the bad faith of OP is exemplified by the original version of this nasty little point-scoring BS where she claimed to diagnose Dorsey as starving himself to death by looking at a list of foods he ate once a day and assuming he was getting <2k calories a day (she had apparently never heard of intermittent fasting).
