Yeah, just because we want everyone to be created equal doesn't mean that they are. Some people will always be furious when research doesn't match what they believe, but we ignore/suppress/demonize it at our peril. On the other hand it's remarkable how successful recent peaceful societies have been at working around this. I don't think we can easily appreciate just how much of that destructive nature is held in check by social mores.
