I'm sure I was told, but I don't think it was strongly emphasized by my instructors. It comes pretty late in Strang's text, for instance.

- wapoamspomw 8y agoI find Strang's text to be unnecessarily tedious. Both of Lang's LA textbooks (Intro to LA, and LA) both take linear maps as the core point of the text.
