Is there a reason disc parking is not practiced in the US? Seems a lot less work than marking tires or keeping track of license plates. Are there any legal or other issues with it?
- whenchamenia 7y agoI have never seen it in the US. But the only counterpoint I could find seemed appropriate to post here; https://hackaday.com/2011/10/27/hacked-parking-disc-can-be-controlled-remotely/ https://hackaday.com/2011/10/27/hacked-parking-disc-can-be-c...
- Jach 7y agoProbably some combination of never hearing of such a thing (I just looked it up) and that the whole idea of directly paying for parking / time-limited parking is still offensive to many of us ("just build more parking lots") and doesn't exist in many places. Then after hearing about it an obvious objection is that it puts an extra burden on the driver to manage the thing even when they just want to pop-in/pop-out, and that if the level of abuse is actually a problem we might as well go all the way with a full blown pay-always approach.
