Such a large figure means Apple actually had to take it seriously, even though it's only ~0.5% of their cash on hand.
If he sued for some trivial sum, they'd probably just pay him to go away.
And yes, publicity is the point. This is how you get new precedents established.
- saagarjha 8y agoThey’re going to do that anyways. Most likely the case will be settled so the guy goes away and the press dies down; he’s not going to continue his moral crusade against Apple violating his privacy after that.
