> bombings of Christian churches ... happens in nearly every country with a Christian minority around Easter
That's quite a claim. How many examples can you think of?
- Mikeb85 8y agoEgypt. Every damned year (keep in mind Orthodox churches like Egypt celebrate Easter on a different day). Nigeria. Give me 5 minutes I can probably find a dozen countries it's happened in. Gets drowned out in the news though. Literally today in Sri Lanka. Hence the OP.
- jfk13 8y agoThat's still a long way from being "nearly every country with a Christian minority".
- Mikeb85 8y agoKenya, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, India, Syria, Iraq, Google it, it's happened. Pick any country with a sizeable Muslim population and Christian minority and there's been an attack on Easter. It gets drowned out, but it's a thing.
- philliphaydon 8y agoI couldn’t find anything for Indonesia.
- Mikeb85 8y agoWell, this year there's heightened security because of past attacks: https://www.ucanews.com/news/indonesian-churches-tighten-easter-security/84986 https://www.ucanews.com/news/indonesian-churches-tighten-eas... And yes, doing a quick Google search brings up a Christmas attack and another a month after Easter. As I said, attacks on churches are common enough that lots of info gets drowned out. And yet they still feel the need to have thousands of security troops guard churches this year.
