Utility Fog
- brad0 8y agoThis is cool! It reminds me of that material the protagonist creates in Big Hero 6. At such a small size though, would it be possible to breathe it in?
- vimax 8y agoYou could breathe one, but I imagine you would not usually encounter a single one by itself. They would always be in the form of a connected cloud with arms stretched out attached to another. If you walk through the cloud, they'd detach making a hole and pull back away from you.
- get_a_clue 8y agoIdiotic. What percentage of robots wind up damaged and malfunctioning, due to ambient crush and impact forces? Where do they go? How quickly do they get replaced? So now we're breathing in partially functioning robots, and they can't escape getting stuck to the mucus coating our tracts? Great! Electrically powered objects, with compute packages choking our lungs. Probably worse than asbestos. Grabbing onto things. Trying to build chains and perform actions. Maybe this only works indoors. What if it escapes into the open? Will a space filler algorithm, intended to maintain density in an enclosed space now run wild, and try to attain density in the middle of the street? And oh yeah, there's enough in the air to form visible clouds. What will it smell like? Why do I want clouds blotting out degrees of visibility? Can I eat the robots? Are they nutritious? What happens to animals? Are dogs and cats going to freak out? Are birds and insects going to be disrupted to the point of eradication? Plants getting their reproductive organs pollinated by electro-mechanically active dust motes, will that crash crop yield for farms trying to harvest staple crops?
