Thanks for the pointer to the book. For others interested, the authors are Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt. For what its worth, I agree that parents are overprotective to the point that it hurts children's development. I let my kids roam more than most (from what I can gather) but I do live in a fairly safe area.
