I feel your pain. I went thru the same and stayed longer than I should have. Things turned out better for me but I payed a high price since I am still in/out of depression and it is affecting my performance. My recommendation is to be confident that one way or another you will find a better place. Be calm, but do not stay longer than you should have. ...and yes some people are assholes and they can bring down whole companies. Don't carry that on your shoulders.
