I couldn't agree more with the long term consequences. Maybe someday we will target these plastics with plastic eating microbes. Is warming not the more pressing issue? Given recent findings about permafrost decline in the artic? By some estimates we may have 50-100 years at best before things get really bad, and we are already undergoing a mass extinction event.
