Was you developing a small tool that's likely to balloon into a suite of tools etc? There may have been a variety of other factors to consider whether it may be worthwhile investing into a framework in the long term I'm not saying that your sentiment isn't at least a little true - but creating complex modern web applications is hard and frameworks CAN be the right decision depending on requirements.
