If the true goal of this article would be something other than getting a hold of one specific individual's tax returns, it would be taken slightly more seriously.
The problem with the NYT is that every sentence within it now has to be processed with this perspective in mind.
- threeseed 8y agoSo because of a single opinion writer the entire corpus of the New York Times should now be seen as a ruse for getting Trump's tax return. Wow. I really will never understand how some people can make such bizarre leaps of logic like this.
- malvosenior 8y agoThis opinion writer is on the editorial board for the NYT. The standards should be hire than this, but the NYT has proved time and time again that much of their content is pure agenda pushing (political and economic).
- yostrovs 8y agoThe editors of the NYT decide what appears in the paper. That's the reason for such high consistency of the paper's topics.
- jrrohrssen 8y agoThere's nothing bizarre about it, they (NYT) have proven time and again their bias against Trump. To me, it's an obvious conclusion.
- commandlinefan 8y agoIt seems awfully coincidental that this is the first time in the paper’s going on to 200-year history this has ever been suggested.
- pseudalopex 8y agoOne of the related articles[1] hedges more but seems designed to persuade the reader. It was published in 2010. [1] https://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/14/business/yourtaxes/14disclose.html https://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/14/business/yourtaxes/14disc...
