I’ve had a similar experience, but it’s been around a year for me. I very rarely have to whitelist anything anymore. Beyond the obvious, one use I’ve had for it is when traveling in an RV and using a bandwidth-limited connection. Not eating up quota with all of the ad assets is very nice.
