Well, ok, but why? Judging from the linked URL, duckduckgo + the main linked sites content it does not (at all) seem to be appropriate.

- detaro 8y agoLook through the history of submissions from there: seems like it was banned after a bunch of spam and really low-quality articles being hosted there.
- chupa-chups 8y agoSorry, but to me it looks more like someone doesn't like this site. Disclaimer: i am in no way associated either with the poster of the original link with codementor.
- detaro 8y agoroughly before everything from it became [dead]: > [flagged] [dead] Need for Speed Payback Crack CODEX CPY Full Game > [flagged] [dead] [[[WATCH]]] Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle Seahawks NFL Live Online TV 19 Nov 2017 > [flagged] [dead] [ONLINE.STREAMING.TV]2017 American Music Awards Live FREE 2017
- chupa-chups 8y agoThis is bullshit, sorry. The links you provided don't even appear on the first page of links to codementor.io, judge yourself: https://news.ycombinator.com/from?site=codementor.io https://news.ycombinator.com/from?site=codementor.io The first [flagged] link is from Nov 20, 2017: [flagged] [dead] [[[WATCH]]] Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle Seahawks NFL Live Online TV 19 Nov 2017 (codementor.io) 1 point by rashel on Nov 20, 2017 | past | web Yes, most of the links are dead. But judging from the titles and the links i could find via web most if not all are legit. I could find way more spam links from medium.com. [edit] I stand by my words: it is bullshit. The OP sounds like all links from there are spam which is not the case. I just sent this topic to hn@ycombinator.com to look into it. I don't believe this can be intentional.
- DanBC 8y agoI don't know what you mean by "this is bullshit"? It's clear those links were posted. There are very many links to that domain posted by accounts that have only one submission and no comments, and that feels like it's an attempt to game the system. If you think the site doesn't deserve to be blocked you should, as the guidelines ask, email the mods to let them know, and they can tell you why it's blocked.
- detaro 8y agoI just tried to answer your question of why it might have been banned given what I can see, and that's my guess: at some point some bad content got submitted from it, so it got banned. If you don't want the answer, don't ask about it. If you want an answer from the site operators, or want to suggest to them the ban might not be appropriate anymore, contact them directly instead of posting on HN.
- chupa-chups 8y agoMy first questions to click [vouch] are: - is the site really scam/BS/not worthy to view/breaks laws? - is the poster known for BS? - is the site known for scams/BS/nor worthy to view/breaks laws? If none apply, i click vouch, and try to start a discussion why the post was flagged because i think the reasons are of interest for the general public as well as to me. Do you agree?
- gus_massa 8y agoMy guess is that some mod saw a few of the spam links and banned the whole site. And nobody checked afterwards. Mods sometimes make mistakes. If you have enough karma you can vouch the article, and it may get unkilled. If not, you can send a friendly email to the mods hn@ycombinator.com , they usually reply very fast. An email is also useful to make them reconsider the ban on the site.
- detaro 8y agoYou misunderstood what I was saying. I didn't claim there was just spam there, but some spam (which very well might have been through user-submitted content etc, can't tell without the URLs), which is enough to get a site banned.
