With this viewpoint one must also be ready to accept the consequences.
For a person to become a police officer they will take on much more risk to their families and property. I'd imagine the personality type that doesn't fear this risk is the exact type of officer one wouldn't want on the street.
Recruiting officers will also be more difficult which means pay/benefits must be increased (which cities often don't have) or quality of candidate accepted must decrease (putting inferior/riskier cops on the street in a position of power).
- huffmsa 8y ago> For a person to become a police officer they will take on much more risk to their families and property. And why is that? Why are LEO disliked or having to live in fear? Shouldn't a society support the members of itself who willingly take on a role to protect said society? Perhaps it's that the populous is increasingly seeing the police apparatus as the enforcement arm of a shadowy, unaccountable bureaucracy in bed with corporations and the elite, and not a force for the protection of the public. So again, who's who and what they do in the government should be publicly accessible.
