M-x replace-string, Orgmode and Slime. I have yet to come across anything that compares, and I definitely prefer having Lisp built in to Python bolted on to the side. Emacs used to be considered quite slow, but compared to the latest offerings its pretty snappy. Never got it to work well in Windows, but that's not an issue for me anymore.
