Interesting.. I would actually think garbage trucks would be one of the last vehicles that are automated. They have to do some insane navigating in small spaces. It seems like the absolute hardest thing to automate that I can think of.
- rtkwe 8y agoDo they? Most I see just cruise down pretty open residential streets grabbing convenient cans. Like most things it'll probably be a mix, most service would be covered by automated trucks with the more troublesome routes still driven by people until the kinks get worked out.
- leetcrew 8y agoI would imagine actually picking up the cans is the hardest part. they often look different from each other, people place them haphazardly, and you might even have to distinguish trash from recycling.
