Calling a mere website "a weapon of war" is a little overstated I think.
- hindsightbias 8y agoSince Assange will probably be claiming the journalist exemption I’m not sure why he should be treated differently than William Randolph Hearst’s crew or Judith Miller at the NYT if you want something more current.
- smt88 8y agoNewspapers have been weapons of war. It's not whether it's a "mere" website or not, but rather how widely its publications are spread and how credulous people are of them. In the case of Wikileaks, it directly influenced the most consequential presidential election since FDR.
