  If it doesn't bother you, try making the same mistake in the other direction and asking for fewer milk in your coffee.

    The use of "less" for countable objects never used to bother me. At all. I'm pretty sure I didn't even notice. Then one day, a couple years ago, it started grating on my nerves. I have no idea what caused me to suddenly start caring! I just do now. I guess as I get older, less things get past me?
