What problem for video does blockchain solve?
- hhs 8y agoGood question. From the article, it states, "DLive is built using Lino, a fully blockchain protocol whose creators say offers enhanced transparency and decentralization." But I wonder how, specifically, this will solve big problems.
- ohiovr 8y agoMay have solved the problem of finding investors.
- RikNieu 8y agoMy guess, its not so much about blockchain as being in control of his own distribution and sources of income. I'm sure he'll try other models too. The big tech companies all seem to be itching for censorship and deplatforming - due to the personal political inclinations of their senior executives, workforce, and due to increasing pressure from state actors. Like Sam Harris' jumping ship from Patreon, my guess is PewDiePie is anticipating that he will be booted from YT in the near future, so he's moving his eggs to other baskets before that happens.
- hhs 8y agoThis is a useful point, as you write, "anticipating that he will be booted from YT in the near future, so he's moving his eggs to other baskets before that happens." The switch looks like a strategic move. I do wonder how long he will stay at DLive. For a short period or more permanently?
- RikNieu 8y ago> or a short period or more permanently? This would likely depend on how much his audience grows on it. Wonder what his metrics for success would be.
