I bought my favorite artists CD "One Cello x 16: Natoma" by Zoe Keating without needing her to give away anything for free. She self-releases her albums, so I am happy to pay what she asks for them. Why should I not pay her for her hard work so she can continue to produce lovely sad cello music? Perhaps you are listening to artists who don't share your values?
