Normalization of Deviance - we as the community of technical folks who have the engineering knowledge to tackle and highlight and help solve these issues should not follow that normalization. It's very dangerous. We need to continue highlighting unacceptable practices to drive privacy improvements in legislation. And we should establish ethics boards and education (ethical software engineering) amongst ourselves to stop building shady things.
