If you like this kinds of stuff, a similar story: Milunka Savic. A Serbian war heroine who was discovered to be female after being wounded in battle. Although not accounted as LGBT, she just wanted to fight...

- ohaideredevs 8y agoWhat does LGBT have to do with wanting to fight?
- toyg 8y agoOne is very likely to be LGBT if s/he is a transvestite.
- austincheney 8y agoTransvestism is a unique behavioral pathology that has nothing to do with sexual orientation.
- TomMckenny 8y agoI'm not sure wearing the wrong clothes is much of a pathology.
- cannabis_sam 8y agoI’m not even sure the clothes are wrong..
- austincheney 8y agoIts classified as a pathology of gender dysphoria in the APA DSM-5. * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathology#Psychopathology https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathology#Psychopathology * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_dysphoria#Diagnosis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_dysphoria#Diagnosis
- cannabis_sam 8y agoNope, cross-dressing alone does not consitute gender dysphoria.
- austincheney 8y agoThat is not what I claimed and it is not what the Wikipedia article claims.
- salex89 8y agoNothing. I just said that it looks like her incentive to present herself as a male is to be able to join the army. There is no mentioning of her still portraying a man after she was exposed.
- ordu 8y agoOne mor story like that: Nadezhda Durova. She was a russian cavalry officer in the Napoleonic wars. She wrote an autobiography then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadezhda_Durova https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadezhda_Durova
- d3ckard 8y agoWell, Poles actually have a history like that as well. You can read about Emilia Plater https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emilia_Plater https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emilia_Plater
- timoth 8y agoReminds me of this Irishwoman who joined the British army in the late 1600s and managed to remain disguised as a man until she was receiving treatment after being wounded -- but only for the second time!: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Davies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Davies It's so amazing that it's hard to believe. For example: "She was so successful at passing herself off as a man that a prostitute claimed she was the father of her child. Rather than give proof that this was impossible, [she] paid child support to the woman."
