I'm not talking about partisan politics or opinions irrelevant to the clearance. But rather about people being opposed to mass surveillance or other important activities conducted by the the intelligence community or military which might tempt the individual to whistleblow if they learned about unacceptable behaviour in those areas.
- user5994461 8y agoPeople opposed to intelligence work wouldn't apply for a job doing just that and requiring a secret clearance.
- GVIrish 8y agoNot true. There may be people looking to get into that field who hope to have the chance to leak information. Imagine someone inspired by Snowden who wanted to unmask some other clandestine program that they didn't agree with or viewed as immoral.
- yeahButSo 8y agoWhat's worse is when you have people swoop in to recruit from the other direction. People that never fucking go away. People that act like they're your friends. People that are looking for recruitment bonuses. People that say they really want you on the team. Oh wow, so smart, but gee, what an attitude If only, if only... And here you are, minding your own business, completely disinterested in getting people murdered, in following and harassing people, getting inside their heads, convincing them to commit crimes against their own country, to help yours. Don't do drugs at home, because we need people dead in other countries, right? Watch me not lose a night's sleep over that.
