After the shit Samsung, LG and now Sony did I don't plan to connect any TV to internet, ever. Separate box&remote is small price to pay.

  That looks to be the issue though, it’s a generic Android TV update so any generic standalone Android TV box is just as likely to get it unless you run custom firmware.
