I think Mozilla's leadership honestly tries to be ethical, but their frame of reference is marketing. They seemingly think tactics that are only moderately scummy instead of flagrantly scummy represent a pro-user revolution. The hell of it is that with the way ad tech has eaten the web, I'm not sure they're wrong.
