Fabien can you tell me how your website is generated? It’s very readable.
- julianlam 8y ago... generated? It's just HTML.
- starpilot 8y agoIs that a js framework?
- fabiensanglard 8y agoNo. I dislike JavaScript. Because it bloats pages, slowdowns page loading and you always need libraries to do the smallest thing. I try to avoid JavaScript as much as possible. There is some on this page to flip the screenshots and that annoyed me.
- carey 8y agoYou should be able to do something with labels, CSS sibling selectors, and the :checked pseudo-class if it matters to you. I found an example at https://codepen.io/ancaspatariu/pen/WpQYOP https://codepen.io/ancaspatariu/pen/WpQYOP which does quite a lot more than you’d need.
- fabiensanglard 8y agoMy hero :) !
- hombre_fatal 8y agoDoesn't mean they literally hand-code every HTML file on the site. That would be highly unlikely since you'd have to change every file any time you update, say, the navbar. For example, google "static site generator".
- tomjakubowski 8y agoI would be quite surprised if Fabien's website HTML was completely hand-written. The site does seem to run some PHP scripts. http://fabiensanglard.net/appleTechTalk2009/index.php http://fabiensanglard.net/appleTechTalk2009/index.php
- fabiensanglard 8y agoI have a php script inserting the header and footer. There is also a php function that accumulate references and prints them at the end. Apart from that, it is all hand-written HTML, these is no CMS.
- fabiensanglard 8y agoThe site used to run on PHP but now it is generated static HTML. I wrote my mini framework because I did not know of any site generator. I learned a lot but overall that was time I could have invested better. The readability part is just the css based on monospace ans justified paragraphs.
