The title is inadvertently misleading. I was expecting an article critical of React. A dilemma is a choice that's inherently difficult because neither option is desirable. But I think they are just using dilemma to mean a choice with two options.

Your definition is sometimes used, where a dilemma is a choice between two undesirable options, but more widely it is defined this way: > A dilemma (Greek: δίλημμα "double proposition") is a problem offering two possibilities, neither of which is unambiguously acceptable or preferable. The article goes outlines a series of cases where you could use choose one of two different but seemingly similar Hooks, and the reasons why you should prefer one over another. That seems pretty accurate to me?
- brlewis 8y agoThis article explains how to find the unambiguously preferable possibility for various use cases. The series should be called "Choosing the Right React Hook", not "Dilemmas with React Hooks". Do not use "dilemma" when you're providing a clear answer.
