I see what you mean now, and I'm sorry if I misconstrued what you were trying to say. On that point, I think we agree. One of the frustrating aspects of the news / social media cycle today seems to be that outrage sells, and people getting agitated and talking past each other just means more impressions and more ad revenue. HN usually manages to stay above that, but perhaps not so much on this topic.
