Articles like this are great, because now the docs truly make sense. I guess I need more context or like a cookbook, “use this when you’re doing this”, “use that when you’re doing that but be careful for other thing”
- xrd 8y agoAgree wholeheartedly. I often feel like when reading the hooks docs that they are describing using them with an assumption that you already understand the problems facing the core team that led to them adding hooks. Articles like this give a lot of clarity to the why behind hooks. I totally get the benefit of not using classes but there is so much more you need to know and the docs assume you have gone through the burden of doing it all in classes and if you haven't, reading the hooks docs make statements that don't always made sense purely from "hooks allow you to avoid classes and their complications."
