Completely derailed my career. Wrote a ZX-Spectrum game and refused to port it to MSX. The pay for the ZX game was a compiler so I doubt much would have come of it anyway.
- xchip 8y agonice! which game did you write? And also why did you refused to port it to the MSX?
- FatDrunknStupid 8y agoIt never had a name :( I was 14 and £25 for the compiler seemed like a dream (the ZX-Spectrum was borrowed). I did a demo when the basics worked and they stated that the whole company was now dedicated to the new MSX standard. Given the effort that I'd put in (written in Z80 on squared paper then optimised on squared paper using Z80 manual), most of which went into the graphics engine (the speccy had a fun screen layout), I decided I knew better and bought myself the ideal dev machine - a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memotech_MTX https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memotech_MTX - Built in Z80 dev environment. Graphics and sound chips. Proper keyboard! God I loved that thing. Never finished that game....
